Around Town 9/6 – 9/12

What’s happening around town this week?  n

Habitat for Tots at the Stone Zoo in Stoneham.  Meets every Tuesday in September from 10:15 – 11:00 am.

Wild Things Playgroup, Tuesday 8/31 at 1pm at the New England Wildlife Center in South Weymouth.  Preschoolers look forward to these hour-long funfests featuring storytelling, music and movement, arts and crafts, games, and, of course, live animals.  Cost is $5 per child.

Family Night at Uno Chicago Grill, Tuesdays from 5-8pm at Uno’s Restaurant in Braintree.  Kids can make their own pizza, and play at the kids activity area.  Free make-your-own pizza with purchase of an adult entree.

Kids Night at Ma Raffa’s in Somerset, Tuesday 9/7 from 5-7pm.  This week’s theme is Back to School Night with Cat in the Hat!

Lowes Build and Grow Workshops, Saturdays at 10am at your local Lowes store.  Bring the kids into any Lowe’s store and build a FREE wooden project. Each participant also receives a free apron, goggles, a project themed patch, and a certification of merit upon completion of their project.    

Lil’ Red Wagon Sale September 10th & 11th at the Weymouth Elks.  A Children’s Consignment Sale and Craft Sale event, where you can find quality items for sale at reasonable prices — all in one place!

Kidtoons Presents Barbie in a Fashion Fairytale, Saturday September 11th and Sunday September 12th at noon.  Tickets are $3.50 each. 

Free Family Arts Festival, Saturday September 11th.  Two festivals hosted by South Shore Conservatory at their Duxbury and Hingham campuses.  The Hingham event will be held at the South Shore Conservatory from 9:00 – 11:00 am, and the Duxbury event will be held at The Ellison Center for the Arts from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

Berenstain Bears at Edaville Railroad in Carver on September 11th & 12th.  Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for children & seniors, (children under 2 are free).

King Richard’s Faire in Carver starts on September 4th and runs through October 24th, Gates open at 10:30am and close at 6pm.

If you or a loved one are on a gluten or allergenic-free diet, and are having a hard time finding good food options, check out AllCanEat Foods Cafe & Bakery in Randolph!   Every product they make is gluten, soy, nut and sesame-free.  They also offer dairy-free, sugar-free, egg and yeast free products, plus you can special order most items to be customized to your specific needs. 

AllCanEat is a newcomer to the South Shore, but owner George Moufarrej, previously of Moufarrej’s Fresh Start Bakery in Walpole, is no stranger to the kitchen.  [read more…]
