As part of our back to school prep, I’ve been on the search for a great reusable water bottle to send along with my son to first grade.  I wanted something sturdy, leak-proof, and cool enough to meet his approval!

Here, in no particular order of preference, are my top 4 picks:

  1. camelbak pirateCamelbak Kids 12oz Bottle, $14, We have two of these and love them.  The Camelbak bite valve is super easy for the kids to use, and we haven’t had any spills yet!  There are lots of great patterns (love the Pirate bottle), and solid colors too.  Find them at REI, Amazon, and others, we got ours at The Paper Store in Hingham!  [read more…]

In an effort to be more green this school year, I’m switching the kids from our usual plastic bags to reusable sandwich bags, hopefully saving money and doing a bit to save the planet at the same time.  There are lots of great options out there for reusable bags, some Velcro, some zippered, and the plenty of patterns and styles to please all three of my kiddos!

itzy ritzy Itzy RitzySnack Happened Bags, $9.99 each, have a waterproof lining and a zipper closure to keep both crumbs and leaks inside.  They come in a great assortment of patterns for girls or boys, and at 7×7 inches, they’re sized generously enough for toting sandwiches or snacks.  Machine washable.  Use coupon code COOLMOMPICKS20 for 20% off your order.

Last week I was invited to a Stella & Dot jewelry trunk show at a jpeg002 girlfriend’s house.  I was looking forward to having some wine, some food, and chatting with the girls.  At this point, the jewelry part of the evening was somewhere in the back of my mind.  I was there to socialize, at least that was the plan, until I walked into my friend’s dining room and actually saw the jewelry!

They had everything from sweet silver necklaces with delicate charms to chunky pieces dangling with trendy baubles.  From bracelets to earrings to necklaces, there was something for everyone’s taste and budget.  They even have a kids line that any little girl would adore!

riviera pandant audrey cluster bracelet owl pendant bloom flower ring

The night was low-key and low-pressure.  There was no formal presentation, the pieces were simply on display and we were encouraged to try on as many as we wanted!  Robin S, our Stella & Dot rep, was on-hand to answer questions and make suggestions, but pretty much let us play dress up to our hearts content.

Love what you see?  Well, we have a $40 Stella & Dot Gift Certificate to give away to one lucky South Shore Mamas reader!  See contest rules below and enter by Wednesday, August 4th for your chance to win!

This weekend we celebrated my daughter’s 2nd birthday with a big ole’ cookout at our house, full of friends and family and lots of good food.   Since my little girl is obsessed with Elmo and all of his little friends, the party theme was Sesame Street!  We had a big Elmo bouncy house, bunches of bright balloons and loads of pretty birthday signs, but my favorite decoration by far was what sat atop the birthday cupcakes.

These sweet cupcakes toppers were made by K&L Designs, and they were fabulous!  [read more…]

Favorite Coffee Cup Part II

May 7, 2010

You may remember my rantings last week about finding the perfect travel cup for my hot coffee. Well, imagine my excitement when I found out that my favorite cup has an iced-coffee sister! (brother? cousin? not sure of the right relative to use here). Anyway, Copco makes this very cool (sorry, no pun intended) Cold Beverage To Go cup, complete with screw-on top and straw. The price is right too, just $7.99 at Bed Bath & Beyond. It doesn’t come in the rainbow of colors that my hot cup does, but basic brown is fine with me. Now I can make my iced coffee at home, and pretend I’ve just come back from the Dunkin drive through!
