Daily Deals websites have cropped up everywhere! For me it all started with Groupon. A friend called to tell me about a great deal on spa services at Dolce Vita in Boston from a group coupon website, telling me we’d get the deal as long as enough other people bought in on it too. We weren’t entirely sure it was legit, but went for it anyway. It was amazing! A few months after that, I was hearing about Groupon from lots of other friends. A bit after that, I started seeing these “Daily Deal” websites pop up everywhere. There are savings to be had on everything from restaurants to kids sports camps to shopping and more! Here are a some that this Mama subscribes to:
Groupon posts on huge daily deal on stuff to do in Boston and surrounding areas.
Living Social offers one fantastic deal every day with discounts of up to 90% at local restaurants, bars, spas, theaters, and more.
Daily Deals for Boston Moms was born out of a desire to share great deals, support small business, and have a great time doing it!
Get Sugar is a local online catalog offering services, experiences and merchandise from the Boston area’s best spas, salons, stores and businesses.
Weforia offers daily deals on restaurants, beauty salons and more.

Free Fun Fridays are back, starting July 1st! Presented by The Highland Foundation, Fun Free Fridays is a summer program that gives you free admission to different Massachusetts attractions every Friday during the summer, with no registration or tickets needed. Here is the schedule for Summer 2011:

One Monday a month, the Hingham Shipyard Patriot Cinemas holds Monday Morning Mommy Movies, where parents and caregivers can see first-run movies in a baby-friendly setting. Theater lights are kept up, and the volume is kept low, so baby might even nap through the flick! Showings may not necessarily be a family film – movies will be based on the current selection in the theater (viewers in March could choose between Gnomeo & Juliet or The Adjustment Bureau). Cost is $6 per person, children 3 and under are free. The next Monday Morning Mommy Movie will be shown on Monday, April 4th.

At Sweet Melissa’s Custom Cake Bakery, owner and founder Melissa Kurtz’s philosophy is to not only to create a beautiful, edible work of art, but to provide you with a delicious cake as well. Her cakes are imaginative and full of detail, and I can’t imagine there’s a party theme she couldn’t accommodate. Melissa is super talented with fondant and icing, as you can see from her work!
I’ve been to parties featuring cakes by Melissa, (she also made my daughter’s first birthday cake), and I can tell you that they really are as delicious as they look!
