Mamas, I know it’s only August, but if you’re a planner like me, you’re already thinking ahead to Back-to-School, Halloween, maybe even… Christmas?  Every year I try and try to capture the perfect family photo for our Christmas cards, and every year the kids respond to my obvious Christmas card stress by flat out refusing to appear on film together in a peaceful manner.  This year we’re going professional, handing the responsibility of making children smile to someone who knows what they’re doing!

Local photographer Amy Kelly is offering South Shore Mamas readers a discount for planning ahead!  Get 15% off all Christmas card orders (cards only) for shoots placed by August 31, 2010.  The actual photo session can take place later, [read more…]

Another must on our list of family activities this summer was blueberry picking.  Yesterday morning we headed down to C.N. Smith Farm in East  Bridgewater, where berries were just bursting off of the bushes!

At C.N. Smith, you pick with their containers, and there is a 3 pound minimum.  The blueberry fields are set at the back of the farm, so you’ll need to drive up to them after picking up your container(s) at the front office.   [read more…]

Mosquito Control

July 27, 2010 · 0 comments

It’s so nice to stretch bedtime out in the summertime, less schedule, less rules, more fun!  It’s hard to stay out past sundown, however, without getting swarmed by mosquitoes.  As much as I coat myself in OFF and Skintastic, I get bitten.  A lot.  I take all the help I can get, and often use the Norfolk County Mosquito Spraying Services.  It’s easy, it’s free, and it really helps!

Find out how to schedule mosquito spraying for your street at the CMMCP website.   Each town has a designated spraying day, [read more…]

Capron Park Zoo

July 19, 2010

Our adventure this week was to visit Attleboro’s Capron Park Zoo. It was our first visit, and it was a huge hit with the kids! Capron Park is a small but beautiful zoo, very clean and well kept. The animal cages are set up for fantastic up-close viewing, and are cleverly laid out. We especially loved the lemur islands set into the zoo’s duck pond, so great!
