Last week I was invited to a Stella & Dot jewelry trunk show at a 
girlfriend’s house. I was looking forward to having some wine, some food, and chatting with the girls. At this point, the jewelry part of the evening was somewhere in the back of my mind. I was there to socialize, at least that was the plan, until I walked into my friend’s dining room and actually saw the jewelry!
They had everything from sweet silver necklaces with delicate charms to chunky pieces dangling with trendy baubles. From bracelets to earrings to necklaces, there was something for everyone’s taste and budget. They even have a kids line that any little girl would adore!
The night was low-key and low-pressure. There was no formal presentation, the pieces were simply on display and we were encouraged to try on as many as we wanted! Robin S, our Stella & Dot rep, was on-hand to answer questions and make suggestions, but pretty much let us play dress up to our hearts content.

Another must on our list of family activities this summer was blueberry picking. Yesterday morning we headed down to C.N. Smith Farm in East Bridgewater, where berries were just bursting off of the bushes!
At C.N. Smith, you pick with their containers, and there is a 3 pound minimum. The blueberry fields are set at the back of the farm, so you’ll need to drive up to them after picking up your container(s) at the front office. {keep reading…}

If you’re looking to buy the kids an extra bathing suit or pair of shorts right now, you might be out of luck at the stores now that back to school has been ushered in by the retail giants. You can get some real deals, however, by scanning the local consignment shops.

Whether Yo Gabba Gabba is your cup of tea or not, the kids sure seem to love it! If you’ve got fans of this musical show in your 
house, you might want to check out the Yo Gabba Gabba Live! There’s a Party in my City! show this fall at the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre.
The live show features not only the usual cast of characters from the Nick Jr. show, but also surprise guests! During ‘Dancey Dance’ segments, special guests take center stage and teach the audience a brand new dance move. Past guests have included Sarah Silverman, Snoop Dogg, DMC from Run DMC, and Jon Heder. Each show features a different guest so you never know who’s going to show up!

This weekend, take the family outside to the theater! South Shore Conservatory’s Evenings Under the Stars outdoor concert series presents Seymour Barab’s Cinderella on Sunday, July 25th at 10am. In a 
show the whole family will enjoy, Opera by the Bay vocalists follow poor “Ella” as she meets her new and step-sisters and learns “there is no such thing as nobody special!”
The performance will take place in the Jane Carr Amphitheater, at 1 Conservatory Drive in Hingham. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children in advance and at the door. {keep reading…}

This Saturday, July 24th, check out the 18th annual Houghton’s Pond Fish Festival! This family-friendly event will be held at Houghton’s Pond at the Blue Hills Reservation from 10:00am to 2:30pm at picnic site #5.
You can take lessons in casting, knot-tying and fish identification, then cast a line into Houghton’s Pond! The festival will include instructional clinics, fish crafts and games. If you have fishing equipment, bring it along, as a limited quantity of fishing equipment and (free) bait will be available.

Our adventure last week was to visit Attleboro’s Capron Park Zoo. It was our first visit, and it was a huge hit with the kids! Capron Park is a small but beautiful zoo, very clean and well kept. The animal cages are set up for fantastic up-close viewing, and are cleverly laid out. We especially loved the lemur islands set into the zoo’s duck pond, so great!
The zoo itself is pretty compact and easy to navigate with little ones. My 2-year-old trekked it to all of the exhibits on her own {keep reading…}

On July 21st The Tots will hold their first annual Trunk Show to clean out their studio and make room for new collections! There will be BIG sales, swag bags provided by The Toy Box in Hanover, a raffle table to benefit Room to Grow, and entertainment for the little ones too!
