{Around Town} Winter Vacation Happenings

If you’re looking for something to do with the family over vacation week, {or maybe you just couldn’t fit in all the holiday fun before Christmas}, check out these local events happening over the next week and a half! 

Go see Blink at Faneuil Hall Marketplace – Nightly performances begin at 4:30 p.m. and run every half an hour until 10:00 p.m, ending on December 31st, 2012.

Stone Zoo’s Zoolights display will be open through December 31st (closed on Christmas day). Hours are 5-9pm.

Edavillle Railroad’s Festival of Lightsis open December 26th-January 1st, and again from January 3rd-6th. Reservations are strongly recommended.

You can still catch a ride on Edaville’s Polar Express! Trains will be departing on January 2nd & 3rd.

Visit the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell for activities all through vacation week:

  • Southwick’s Zoo Animal Show!
    Friday, Dec. 28th, 1:00pm & 2:30pm
  • Snowshoe 101
    Thursday, Dec. 27th, 10am-2pm
  • Tales from Mother Moon
    Friday, Dec. 28th, 10-10:30 & 11-11:30
  • Meet An Animal
    Dec 27th, 29th & 31st at 2pm

Go skating at a local rink during public/open skate times, or take the family to the Boston Common Frog Pond!

Ring in the new year at The Children’s Museum in Easton’s Family New Year’s Party on Monday, December 31st from 10am-4pm.

Head into Boston on New Year’s for First Night.

Take the kids to your local Barnes & Noble store for Story Time. On December 28th at 10:30am, hear The Quiet Book and The Loud Book by Deborah Underwood {Hingham}. On January 1st at 10:30am, hear Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution by Pat Miller {Braintree}.
