TEDDY BEAR CHECK-UP DAY AT THE STONE ZOO

Where:  The Stone Zoo, Stoneham
When:  June 1st, 10am-3pm
Cost:  Adults $14, children (ages 2-12) $10, Seniors $12. Children under age 2 are free.
Bring your favorite teddy bear for a day of cuddly fun on June 1! Stone Zoo staff will be on hand to give your bear a check-up and clean bill of health. Later, march through the Zoo in the Teddy Bear Parade and say hello to Smoky and Bubba, Stone Zoo’s resident black bears!Throughout the day, there also will be zookeeper encounters at the black bear exhibit. This is the perfect time to learn more about the bears and ask questions.   {more}

FREE KIDS WORKSHOPS AT HOME DEPOT

Where:  Your Local Home Depot Store
When:  June 1st, 9am-12pm
Cost:  Free

On the first Saturday of each month, Home Depot offers FREE Kids Workshops from 9am-12pm at each of their locations.  Workshops are designed for kids between 5 and 12 years old.  In addition to their completed project, each child goes home with their own work apron, commemorative pin, and certificate of achievement.  Craft themes generally revolve around holidays or current kids movie releases, and may require some assistance from mom or dad for the younger builders.   This month, make a Lawn Mower Pencil Holder!


INTERNATIONAL FAIR

Where:  Bay Farm Montessori Academy Campus, 145 Loring Street, Duxbury, MA
When:  Sunday, June 2nd from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (rain or shine)
Cost:  Free

JIMMY FUND SCOOPER BOWL

Where:  Bay Farm Montessori Academy Campus, 145 Loring Street, Duxbury, MA
When: Tuesday, June 4 – Thursday, June 6, 2013.  12-8pm every day
Cost:  Tickets are $10 for adults (ages 10+) and $5 for kids (ages 3-9). Kids under 3 are free!

The 31st annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl presented by FedEx, the nation’s largest all-you-can-eat ice cream festival, will take place on June 4-6, 2013 at Boston’s City Hall Plaza. The event served up ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet from nine of the nation’s leading ice cream companies from noon to 8 p.m. each day.  Since its inception in 1983 the Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl has raised more than $3 million for cancer research and care.  {more}

58th ANNUAL SOUTH SHORE ARTS FESTIVAL

Where:  South Shore Arts Center, 119 Rigley Road, Cohasset
When:  June 14-16
South Shore Art Center Arts Festival celebrates its 58th year and showcases craft and fine artists from New England and beyond. In addition to almost one hundred juried exhibitor booths, the Arts Festival features a juried art exhibition and members’ show, live music performances, artist demonstrations, children’s art activities and a young artist exhibition. The Arts Festival draws over 9,000 visitors from the Greater Boston region to historic, ocean side Cohasset Common.  Find out more here.

CELEBRATE FATHER’S DAY AT THE ZOO

Where:  Franklin Park Zoo, Boston

BUTTERFLY LANDING RE-OPENS AT FRANKLIN PARK ZOO

Where:  Franklin Park Zoo, Boston
When:  Saturday, June 15th, 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on weekends, 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. days weekdays
Cost:  Adults $17, children (ages 2-12) $14, Seniors $11. Children under age 2 are free.
When Butterfly Landing reopens for the season, guests will once again have the opportunity to stroll through this tranquil environment filled with nearly 1,000 free-flight butterflies. This tented, outdoor exhibit also features several garden beds, a waterfall and pond, and soothing surround-sound music. This seasonal exhibit is free with paid admission and will be open through mid-September.   {more}

FATHER’S DAY ROAD RACE AT THE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM IN EASTON

Where:  The Children’s Museum in Easton
When:  Sunday, June 16th, race starts at 8am
Start Father’s Day off on the right foot by participating in the Museum’s Annual Road Race or Fun Walk. Whether you walk or run, you’ll enjoy the gently looping course that begins on Main Street and winds through the tree-lined streets of historic North Easton Village, past H.H. Richardson buildings and F.L. Olmsted landscapes. The picturesque course is mostly flat, with a few rolling hills. A festive post-race party plus raffles and an awards ceremony follows the finish. Results are posted immediately following the race. T-shirts will be given to all runners who pre-register by June 1.  {more}

BOSTON BALL

Where:  Salvatore’s Event and Conference Center in Lawrence
When:  Sunday, June 23rd, 7-11pm
Cost:  Individual tickets are $30, or purchase a “ticket and a tee” for $45.

POOCH A PALOOZA

Where:  Prowse Farm, Canton
When:  Saturday, June 22nd & Sunday, June 23rd at 10am-7pm
Cost:  $15 for adults, $8 for children, and $12 for seniors.  Dogs are admitted free of charge but must be leashed.
Ticket prices day of the festival will be $20 for adults, $10 for children, and $15 for seniors.  Children 2 and under are free.

The first ever Pooch-A-Palooza Festival, scheduled to be held  in Canton, MA on June 22-23, will host more than 10,000 attendees and many of their dogs, taking over Prowse Farm at the base of the Blue Hills for this two-day outdoor family-friendly festival.   {more}

10am – Rolie Polie Guacamole -Rock & Roll with Rolie Polie Guacamole, a hip “kindie” band. Their high energy, interactive shows are a mix of funk, rock and folk music mashed into original tunes about natural living, eating healthy and staying active.
Noon-2pm -Come Join the Circus with Ollie and Bianca! Two young clowns bring the magical atmosphere of the circus to The Children’s Museum, where visitors will be treated to old-word accordion music with a modern twist, as the clowns juggle and giggle their way into your hearts. Get a balloon twisting lesson and choose your own clown make-up.Play alongon a variety of rhythm instruments while you and your friends follow the Banjolele, leading a special circus parade just for you. What a croc! Or a lizard, or any number of other reptiles which will be presented in this crowd-pleasing, interactive program from Curious Creatures.  Shows at 11am & 1pm
