Activities on the South Shore and beyond for August 23rd – 29th:  

The Marshfield Fair starts on Friday 8/20 and runs through 8/29.  Admission is $10, children 6 & under get in free.  Hours:  Mon–Fri Noon-10pm, Sat & Sun 10am-10pm.  Wednesday 8/25 is Children’s Day, kids ages 12 & under get in free!  Check out the entire fair schedule, and get a coupon.

Wild Things Playgroup, Tuesday 8/24 at 1pm at the New England Wildlife Center in South Weymouth.  Preschoolers look forward to these hour-long funfests featuring storytelling, music and movement, arts and crafts, games, and, of course, live animals.  Cost is $5 per child. 

Family Night at Uno Chicago Grill, Tuesdays from 5-8pm at Uno’s Restaurant in Braintree.  Kids can make their own pizza, and play at the kids activity area.  Free make-your-own pizza with purchase of an adult entree.

Kids Night at Ma Raffa’s in Somerset, Tuesday 8/24 from 5-7pm.  Pirate Night!  Come on down and do a fun pirate craft and get a pirate hat while you meet a real Pirate!

Grand Opening of Stroller Strides in Milton, Wednesday August 25th from 9:30am – 12:30pm at Pope John Paul II Park, Milton/Dorchester.  Registration begins at 9am, class begins at 9:30am.  THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER.

Summer Drop-In Days at The Children’s Museum in Easton, Stop by between 10:30am and 3pm on Thursday 8/26 for Miss Candy’s Petting Zoo, and Friday 8/27  for FETCH with Ruff Ruffman.  Event is free with museum admission.  No registration required.

$1 Friday Nights at the Children’s Museum in Boston, Fridays between 5-9pm admission to the museum is just $1!

Family Fun Nights at Colony Place in Plymouth, on Friday 8/27 from 5:30-7pm.  Bring the family and a blanket and get ready for some summer fun! This week – Acapella sing off.  Admission is FREE.

Fun Free Fridays at The Museum of Science Art in Boston, Friday 8/27, no ticket or reservation needed, admission to the museum is free all day Friday!

Back At It – Back to School Event at the South Shore Plaza, Saturday August 28th from 12pm-3pm in center court in front of Macy’s.  See two back to school fashion runway shows with all the latest fashions from mall retailers and enjoy great family friendly activities for kids too!

Downtown Plymouth Waterfront Festival, Saturday August 28th from 11am-7pm on Water Street in Plymouth.  Returning Festival favorites will be the Arts & Craft shows featuring over 100 local artisans and crafters, Duck Races in Brewster Gardens, the 5th annual Motor Head’s Cruise In Car Show, 5th annual ‘America’s Hometown’ Plymouth Idol Competition, Food Vendors, Festival Carnival & 2 stages of live entertainment!

Toe Jam Super Send-Off, Saturday 8/28 at the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, 6-8pm (doors open at 5pm).  Cost is $5 per child, children under 1 and over 14 are free, adults are free. 

Day Out With Thomas at Edaville Railroad in Carver, August 28-29, 9am-5pm.  Take a train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine™ through the beautiful scenery of the pine groves and cranberry bogs!

Wild August Family Music Series at the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, Saturday August 28th from 1-3pm.  What better way to celebrate the new Aussie Aviary exhibit in the Outback Trail than with a didgeridoo player?

Wild August Family Music Series at the Stone Zoo in Stoneham.  Sunday, August 29th, 11am-1pm.  This week is a performance by Jay Mankita, a songwriter, guitarist and recording artist geared toward children.
